Ukraine responded by striking energy facilities and warehouses in several parts of Russia, while both sides targeted each other's ships.
Fatal blows in Zvyahel and attacks in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih
Zhytomyr Region Governor Vitaliy Bunechko said a Russian attack on a grocery store killed two people in the town of Zvyahel.
Two gas stations and a foreign-invested business were hit.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported attacks in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia and his hometown of Kryvyi Rih. Zaporizhzhia Region Governor Ivan Fedorov said two people were killed and 11 injured in the attacks in Zaporizhzhia and other localities.
Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration, said two people were killed in overnight drone and missile attacks on the city.
Russian strikes against Ukrainian industrial facilities
Russian forces said they struck the Ukrainian steel plant Zaporizhstal in Zaporizhzhia, an Interpipe Steel complex in Dnipro, and several facilities in Kryvyi Rih, including the Northern Iron Ore Beneficiation Works complex.
In the Odesa region, Governor Oleh Kiper reported that 37 people, including a newborn, were injured in a series of nighttime attacks. Two people are missing.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Moscow's forces maintained their attacks on Ukrainian ports, hitting a cargo ship in Odesa that they believed was carrying military-grade goods. Previously, the ministry said it had struck two cargo ships overnight in the port of Chornomorsk.
Ukrainian response with attacks in Russia
The Ukrainian military said it struck one of Russia's largest synthetic rubber producers in Tolyatti, Samara Region, causing a fire. The Tolyattikauchuk plant specializes in the production of synthetic rubber and fuel additives used in Russian missiles.
Russian regional governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported that industrial facilities in the Samara region had been attacked by Ukrainian drones, without specifying which ones or whether they had been damaged. Tolyatti mayor Ilya Sukhikh said several residential buildings had been damaged and one person was injured.
In a separate attack, four commercial properties were set on fire in the city of Taganrog, Rostov Region, local mayor Svetlana Kambulova said.
