Lucrezia Ciotti Alessandro Di Battista has returned to Italy after being hospitalized and undergoing surgery in Cuba. The former MP landed in Ciampino Airport aboard an air ambulance and was transferred to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome: here's the latest news on his condition.

As reported by Adnkronos , according to Giulio Maira, neurosurgeon and former director of the Gemelli Neurosurgery Institute, the fact that Di Battista was able to face a medical transfer lasting around twelve hours would represent a positive element , although it does not allow conclusions about his real conditions.
The specialist emphasized that the first 24 hours will be particularly important for tests and to rule out any neurological complications, reiterating the need to wait for the evaluations of the doctors who are treating him.
Meanwhile, the Schierarsi association has appealed to friends, supporters, and media workers not to visit the Gemelli Hospital, asking for " maximum caution and discretion " when disseminating photographs, videos, and personal information.
The association has specified that any updates will be communicated when and in the manner deemed appropriate , respecting the wishes of Di Battista and his family.

The medical flight, which lasted approximately twelve hours in total, included two technical stops, first in Nassau, Bahamas, and then in Luxembourg.
An ambulance, escorted by a police vehicle, was waiting for the former Five Star Movement MP, who took him directly to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome. In the first images released after his arrival, Di Battista appears with a prominent bandage on his head.
The former congressman was in Cuba reporting when, on August 28 , he was struck by an illness accompanied by severe headaches. He was rushed to Havana and underwent surgery in the following days . His return to Italy, initially scheduled for September 4, was later postponed to allow for the transfer in the most suitable conditions.
According to the latest reports, at Gemelli Hospital he is now being treated by the Neurosurgery team led by Professor Francesco Doglietto and the Resuscitation and Intensive Care team led by Professor Massimo Antonelli. He is also being assisted by neurosurgeon Giuseppe Maria Della Pepa and anesthesiologist Isabella Melchionda, who treated him during his final days in Cuba.
