They allegedly slapped, insulted, mocked, and hurled intimidating remarks at elderly residents of a nursing home. Now, three healthcare workers at a nursing home in the province of Milan have been placed under suspension. The Carabinieri of the NAS unit in Milan, coordinated by the Lodi Prosecutor's Office, have executed a precautionary ban against them.

The order, issued by the investigating judge at the request of the prosecutor, imposes an absolute ban on the suspects from practicing as healthcare assistants in any healthcare or social care facility, whether public or private, throughout the country.

During the investigation, the responsibilities of a fourth operator emerged and she was investigated for aggravated threats.

The investigation, which also relied on audio and video interceptions, reportedly documented "serious and systematic episodes of violence" committed against four elderly residents entrusted to the suspects, who are charged, to varying degrees, with mistreatment and sexual assault.

In particular, "repeated physical and psychological harassment" emerged during the daily bedding and dressing procedures, during which the suspects allegedly grabbed the weak victims by the hair and slapped them in the face and head, accompanying these gestures with insults, derision, and intimidating phrases.

Adding to the situation, the two male caregivers are also facing charges of sexual assault. The two, "abusing their positions of authority and the elderly women's state of total vulnerability," investigators explain, allegedly beat their private parts during daily personal hygiene routines.
