Three more schools were occupied today in Rome. These are the Socrate Classical and Scientific High School in the Garbatella neighborhood, at Via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani 15; the Ennio Quirino Visconti Classical High School, at Piazza del Collegio Romano 4; and another classical high school, Pilo Albertelli (Via Daniele Manin 72 – Via dell'Esquilino 31).
The two Roman high schools join the already long list of occupied institutions in the capital, starting with the Righi scientific high school, the Augusto and Tasso classical high schools, the Argan art high school, the von Neumann institute, the Margherita di Savoia teacher training institute, the Ripetta art high school and the Piaget-Diaz.
Also included are the Plauto Classical and Humanities High School (Spinaceto), the Nomentano Scientific High School (Bufalotta), and the Russell Experimental Classical High School on Via Tuscolana. The protests focus on the high cost of living, the Security Decree, wars, and school buildings.
“This morning, November 4, 2026, the Via Padre Reginaldo Giuliani building was occupied by a group of students who entered the school premises without authorization before opening time, preventing the regular conduct of lessons and the work of workers.
Law enforcement has been informed of the incident. The school principal has formally notified the relevant authorities, including health authorities, of the situation. Until the end of the occupation, starting this afternoon, November 4, 2026, lessons and other planned curricular, extracurricular, and project-related activities will be suspended/cancelled exclusively in the occupied building,” writes headmaster Carlo Firmani.
"We inform the families of students at the Institute that the school has been occupied by students since this morning, therefore the conditions for allowing students to enter and carry out regular teaching activities are not in place. Parents are asked to keep their children at home until the school returns to normal conditions. Any changes or updates regarding the reopening of the school will be promptly published in the electronic register," is the communication from the Pilo Albertelli High School.
"We would like to inform you that on Wednesday, November 4th, the school was occupied by a group of students. The school administration promptly informed the police. Starting November 4th, regular teaching activities are temporarily suspended, and it is impossible to guarantee safety measures within the school. Further information regarding the resumption of regular teaching activities will be provided on the school website," is the notice appearing on the Visconti High School website.
