Bad news is coming from Paraguay, affecting the fate of the savings of many account holders who have relied on Ueno Bank to manage their funds. Although founded quickly, the bank has become a go-to institution for many savers, thanks to its foundation in technology and modernity that make banking transactions fast and accessible to everyone.
Ueno Bank: What Happened Today in Paraguay?
This morning, millions of account holders woke up in panic. Once they logged in to their bank , they couldn't check their balance. The screen was completely blank , and they couldn't manage their funds.
Shortly after this situation, which involved a large part of the country, a notice arrived from the Paraguayan central bank explaining that it had initiated the procedure for the administration of the credit institution.
The administration was brought about by the collapse of the solvency ratio, which fell below 50%.
Many people lined up in front of the bank's headquarters in Asuncion and in 75 other branches around the country, trying, unsuccessfully, to withdraw their blocked savings.
Ueno Bank Collapse, President Peña Resigns, Heading for Impeachment
Following the collapse of Ueno Bank, Paraguayan President Santiago Peña announced, through a post published on X , that he would resign from his post as Prime Minister.
This decision was made, he writes, " to preserve the institutions and social peace ," as reported by Ansa . The president himself was, in fact, one step away from impeachment, after being isolated by his own political coalition, which supported the opposition's motion of no confidence.
We must therefore understand what will happen to the savings of millions of citizens currently living in extreme hardship, with the hope that the situation can be resolved as quickly as possible, but above all without serious repercussions.
