(Adnkronos) – A shot, a deflection, a post, a goalkeeper blunder, a goal. It was all in vain, offside. In the match between Uruguay and Cape Verde, today, June 22nd, with the score tied at 2-2, the South American team scored to make it 3-2, at least for a few seconds. In the 68th minute, Araujo took a corner and received the ball back. His pass was capitalized on by Ugarte, who fired a low diagonal shot.
A defender's deflection sends the ball onto the inside of the post and into the hands of goalkeeper Vozinha, who makes a truly questionable save: the ball is a bar of soap, the goalkeeper loses it, and Araujo can turn it into the net. It's all in vain, however. The Uruguayan player's initial position after the corner is irregular.
