Tragedy in Alberoro: Antonella Peruzzi dies suddenly
Antonella Peruzzi , 66, died suddenly at her home in Alberoro, a hamlet of Monte San Savino (Arezzo), after a sudden illness that immediately caused concern. A few hours later, her husband, 69, a well-known goldsmith entrepreneur, also experienced similar symptoms of nausea and difficulty breathing and was admitted to the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo, where he received treatment and oxygen therapy before being discharged a week later.
Initially, cardiac arrest was suspected due to pre-existing conditions, but the man's worsening condition prompted the prosecutor's office to intervene, opening an investigation into manslaughter.
Woman dies at home after woodworm treatment, husband hospitalized: investigation opened in Arezzo
Investigators' attention focused on the anti-woodworm treatment carried out on the villa a few days before the tragedy.
The intervention involved wooden beams and furniture , using a product based on magnesium sulphide, a substance normally safe if used correctly, but potentially dangerous in case of prolonged exposure or without adequate ventilation.
The owner of the company that carried out the work has been entered in the register of suspects as a matter of course. The villa has been seized, and chemical and biological samples, including blood and urine samples from the husband, have been collected to establish a possible connection between the treatment residues and the couple's illnesses.
Depending on the results of the tests, investigators may order an autopsy on Antonella Peruzzi's body to determine whether exposure to chemicals may have contributed to her death.
