A serious accident occurred in the early afternoon of Monday 14 September in Casatenovo, in the province of Lecco , where an 18-year-old student was hit by a bus shortly after leaving the Fumagalli Institute.
The young man had just finished the first day of classes after the summer break and was in Via Giovenzana.
The emergency number 112 was raised around 1:30 PM , and Soreu dei Laghi dispatched ambulances and medical vehicles to the scene, while a helicopter rescue service also took off from Milan . The boy's condition immediately appeared very serious, particularly due to a deep wound to his leg and other injuries sustained in the crash.
After being stabilized and given initial treatment, the eighteen-year-old was transferred to the helicopter, which landed in the market square on Via Casati, and then transported to the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza . According to reports, the boy also required transfusions and was subsequently admitted to intensive care.

The fire brigade, Carabinieri, and local police also responded to the scene of the accident, tasked with carrying out the necessary investigations to accurately reconstruct what happened. An initial version, as reported by Ansa , claims that the young man attempted to reach the bus as it was leaving by running along Via Giovenzana. However, he slipped near the curve and ended up in the path of the moving vehicle . The exact circumstances , however, have not yet been determined.
To allow for rescue operations, surveys, and safety measures in the area, Via Manzoni and Via Giovenzana were closed to traffic , resulting in diversions in the center of Casatenovo just as school dismissal time.
