(Adnkronos) – 29 UniCamillus University professors are included in the 2026 edition of the "World's Top 2% Scientists," the international ranking compiled using Scopus bibliometric data and published by Elsevier as part of a research project coordinated by Stanford University. The ranking identifies scientists with the highest international citation impact and includes two separate assessments: one relating to scientific impact in the last reference year (single-year) and one relating to their entire career (career-long).

Of the 29 UniCamillus professors in the annual ranking, 11 also appear in the overall career ranking. Among the most represented disciplines are oncology and carcinogenesis, obstetrics and reproductive medicine, dentistry, and general and internal medicine. "The variety of specializations highlights the multidisciplinary nature of the research promoted by the University," UniCamillus emphasizes.

“The 29 professors in the World's Top 2% Scientists demonstrate the growth of an academic community capable of contributing to international scientific research,” says Gianni Profita, rector of UniCamillus.

The presence of 11 professors in both sections of the ranking is particularly significant: it demonstrates that recognition encompasses both the most recent results and the scientific impact built up over time. For a medical university, research has a value that goes beyond academic recognition: it means contributing to the advancement of knowledge and applying this scientific heritage to the training of future doctors and healthcare professionals.

The UniCamillus professors included in the 2026 single-year ranking are: Cinzia Auriti, Luciana Cacciottola, Luigi Canullo, Giuseppe Caruso, Simone Cerciello, Paola Cozza, Gabriella D'Orazi, Ruggero De Paulis, Marzia Del Re, Jacopo Demurtas, Giuseppe Di Lorenzo, Simone Garcovich, Ermanno Greco, Cesare Gregoretti, Maria Rosaria Gualano, Giuseppe Ippolito, Roberta Lione, Michele Marchioni, Francesca Moro, Antonio Novelli, Veronica Ojetti, Gaetano Paolone, Vincenzo Parisi, Mariacristina Parravano, Antonio Pietroiusti, Massimo Ralli, Anne Wilhelmina Saskia Rutjes, Michele Sassano, and Nicola Veronese.

"We are very pleased with this result, which represents a concrete sign of the scientific quality we are consolidating," emphasizes Emiliano Maiani, the Rector's Delegate for Research at UniCamillus. "This recognition should be interpreted not only as an individual recognition of the colleagues included, but also as evidence of the University's ability to attract and engage high-profile scientific talent through recruitment policies geared toward merit and research quality. This wealth of expertise," he concludes, "represents an important resource for strengthening and supporting the progressive development of research at UniCamillus."
