In parallel with the toxicology tests, the investigation , coordinated by prosecutor Daniela Moroni , continues into the hypotheses of nautical homicide and negligent shipwreck . Experts are scheduled to be appointed on September 24th to reconstruct the collision dynamics more precisely, verifying, among other things, the position of the vessels and their speed.
An autopsy is also planned on the bodies of the two victims.
As part of the investigation, an international rogatory letter was also requested , i.e. a procedure for judicial cooperation between states, to collect the testimony of the two passengers of the water taxi : an American couple who that morning were reaching the airport to return to the United States.
Meanwhile, as reported by Tgcom24 , the owner of the taxi boat has submitted a request to the Mobility Office of the Municipality of Venice for the transfer of the transport license.
The request would be legitimate, but its acceptance could have repercussions on financial guarantees in the event of a future compensation request from the victims' families.

According to the Corriere del Veneto , tests performed on the driver of the water taxi involved in the accident revealed traces of alcohol and narcotics in both his blood and urine. According to initial information, the levels found are not particularly high, but further clinical tests will be necessary to precisely determine the quantity of the substances present.
The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12 , along the Tessera Canal. The taxi, which was taking tourists to Venice-Tessera Airport, collided with the topa, the characteristic Venetian boat in which the two young people were traveling. The taxi driver reportedly didn't notice the other boat due to the poor visibility in the dark . Sean Michieli died the next day in hospital, while the body of Gabriella Querino Elorriaga was recovered in the following days, almost two kilometers from the point of impact.
