(Adnkronos) – Gianni Infantino's earnings are once again in the spotlight. This time, the Times revealed in an investigation that in 2024, the FIFA president would have received an additional $1,76 million from the American company FWC2026 US Inc., which is responsible for organizing the 2026 World Cup between Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
This amount, according to the British newspaper, was not included in the international federation's annual financial statements. The reconstruction is based on the US company's tax documents, which would include an additional payment to Infantino, separate from the salaries and bonuses already disclosed. This amount would therefore be in addition to the approximately 4,27 million Swiss francs that, according to FIFA's official financial statements, the president would have earned in 2024.
In response to questions from The Times, FIFA did not provide any explanations or clarifications on the matter.
A federation representative stated that Infantino's salary and benefits are determined by the appropriate bodies and reported to the US authorities, in compliance with the law. The new doubts surrounding FIFA's president come at a crucial time in the run-up to the federation's upcoming presidential elections, with the nomination window closing on November 18.
