(Adnkronos) – The former Renzi bonus, worth €100 per month, is now worth up to €1.200 per year, but some eligible taxpayers may have received a lower amount or may not have benefited from it at all. Those who filed their 730 tax return have until October 26th to make corrections by filing an additional tax return.

Employees earning an annual income of up to €15.000 are eligible for the full bonus, but only if they have sufficient tax credits. The bonus is obtained through a tax credit, and therefore, if the employee's tax payments are less than €1.200, they will not be eligible for the full amount, but only for the portion corresponding to the tax deduction.

While between 15.000 and 28.000 euros the disbursement is possible, but only if certain deductions are present.

However, the bonus may not be paid in full by the employer in the paycheck, and in this case, it must be recovered later in the tax return. Specifically, those who must check whether the amount received corresponds to the total to which they are entitled are: workers whose annual income differs from the expected amount, because the employer's calculation of the benefit is based on data available during the year, but the actual income may differ at the end of the year; those who have multiple employment relationships in the same year, for example, if the taxpayer has changed jobs; and employees whose employer is not a withholding agent, as in the case of domestic workers.

The former Renzi bonus was introduced in 2014, when the prime minister was Matteo Renzi.

Initially worth €80 per month, for a total of €640 (because it started in March and was paid for nine months), the following year the bonus became permanent and reached €960 per year. In 2020, it increased to €100 per month, reaching the current annual ceiling of €1.200, and was renamed on payslips, becoming "supplementary treatment."
