(Adnkronos) – Tomorrow, October 14, the Giovanni Spadolini Hall of the Ministry of Culture will host the fourth edition of the 2026 International Euro-Mediterranean Excellence Award, sponsored by the Mediterranean Journalists Association. This event is dedicated to recognizing individuals who, through their professional and personal journeys, contribute to cultural, social, and sporting growth and to dialogue between peoples.
The event will bring together representatives from the worlds of sport, cinema, culture, and social commitment, as well as international guests and diplomatic representatives from several Euro-Mediterranean countries. This gathering confirms the Award's mission to promote the Mediterranean as a space for dialogue, cooperation, and friendship, in keeping with the principle that the sea does not divide, but unites.
Among the awards presented by the committee for the 2026 edition is Gennaro Gattuso, current coach of Serie A's top-seeded Lazio. He was recognized for his sporting achievements and the values his experience demonstrates, both on and off the field: determination, loyalty, a sense of belonging, and responsibility. The Award seeks to recognize not only a champion with a high-level career in international football, but also a personality capable of conveying a concrete message to the new generations: results are achieved through commitment, discipline, respect for others, and the ability to face challenges without giving up on one's goals.
“To Gennaro Gattuso, for embodying the values of determination, loyalty, and team spirit in football.
For his authenticity, his ability to take on responsibility, and his willingness to face every challenge without shying away. His journey represents a significant testimony for young people: talent gains value when combined with commitment, respect, and the ability to bounce back after difficulties. It is a recognition of the man and the athlete, whose example reminds us of sport's educational function and its ability to unite different people and cultures.
With its fourth edition, the International Euro-Mediterranean Award for Excellence renews its commitment to promoting stories, skills, and experiences that foster encounters between cultures and generations. Sport, along with journalism, art, and culture, represents a privileged tool for building bridges between countries and communities, promoting mutual respect and collaboration. The initiative takes place within the institutional framework of the Ministry of Culture and aims to provide an opportunity for international exchange, giving space to protagonists who, in their respective fields, contribute to spreading values of excellence, responsibility, and dialogue.
