(Adnkronos) – "This project is fundamental for us, extremely important, because it has allowed us to regenerate and redevelop an oasis of great naturalistic and biodiversity importance. It is an oasis that essentially originated with Lake Bilancino, in the early 2000s. It is a recognized protected area, but over time it had suffered major problems due to periods of drought and the sediment that filled the lakes.
So it really needed a major renovation to be able to function as a biodiversity area again. The intervention we carried out thanks to the Sanpellegrino Group demonstrates, first and foremost, a significant synergy with the private sector and research institutions, which is already a major achievement, a great thing.” These were the words of the mayor of Barberino di Mugello, Sara Di Maio, at the presentation of the redevelopment project for the Gabbianello Oasis, on the shores of Lake Bilancino, in Mugello.
The project, supported by Acqua Panna, a Sanpellegrino Group brand, with an investment of over €2 million, has allowed the wetlands to be expanded by 28%, improved water resource management, and created a new educational trail accessible to the blind and visually impaired.
