Adnkronos School meals are of fundamental importance. As Filiera Italia, together with Coldiretti, we are working hard at the European level. A new regulation on public procurement will be published by September 9th. In it, we have requested that school meals never be priced at the lowest possible price, but rather emphasize nutritional quality. For many children, this is their only opportunity during the day to enjoy a truly complete lunch, which must be increasingly balanced.
Furthermore, we have had significant success in Italy with initiatives such as the 'Campagna Amica' campaign in hospitals to raise awareness of the value of diet in disease prevention. In Rome, for example, "ultra-processed foods will be banned from school canteens." This was stated by Luigi Scordamaglia, CEO of Filiera Italia, at the Programma Academy, a training event promoted in partnership with pediatric specialty schools, scientific societies, institutions, and Plasmon.
