The Council of Ministers has given the green light to the budget. According to reports, the bill decree has been scrapped. The measure, which would have also established a price cap for gas, has reportedly been postponed to a new Council of Ministers meeting.

Among the measures, it is understood, there could also be a 'piggy bank' for newborns with an amount of around 100 euros per year until they reach 18.

Launched this summer by the president of INPS, the idea of a social security booklet for newborns could be included in the draft budget law currently before the Council of Ministers. The original plan, if confirmed, would provide for a state contribution upon birth, along with the opening of a position at INPS, and the possibility of supplementing it for parents and grandparents, and then directly by the account holder.

“We are on the home stretch on the budget law.

As always, the goal is to balance the books, keep the commitments made, and continue with the priorities we've set ourselves over the years." Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed herself thus, adding: "The issue of wages, protecting purchasing power, but also attention to the middle class, support for businesses that invest and hire, the attention that must be paid to the issue of energy costs, healthcare, families, and young people will be a focus of this budget law."

"As always, we will try to do our best, to live up to expectations even with resources that are, as we know, limited. We hope that someone will share the serious, responsible, and also very complex work behind measures like this, in a nation where controversy often seems to get much more traction than the solutions we're trying to provide citizens. So, we will do our part," he added.
