Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – William Chapman is the man who died after being attacked by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, a wildlife park near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. As the BBC reports, the man, around 25 years old, entered the enclosure where the animal was kept last Saturday, climbing over the fence, and was attacked, as shown by images that have begun circulating on social media, which the man's family has asked that no further sharing be made of.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed that Chapman was visiting the park alone. The attack reportedly lasted a few minutes: according to witnesses, the 25-year-old was wearing headphones and pacing around the area before entering the enclosure. One person reported seeing him climb over the fence, jump inside, and lie down in front of the tiger, which shortly thereafter attacked and killed him.
Chapman was a former pupil of Jackie Palmer Stage School in High Wycombe.
He has a history as an actor: as a child, he appeared in the ITV production “May Contain Nuts” alongside Shirley Henderson – best known for playing Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films – and Darren Boyd. He also played Edward Jenner in the BBC series “True Stories.”
US President Donald Trump also intervened in the matter in the last few hours, sharing on his Truth Social the video in which Chapman, who "suffered from a serious mental illness", was mauled by the Siberian tiger.
“Never mess with nature,” wrote Trump, who then shared a clip, created with artificial intelligence, showing the tycoon confronting a tiger and then hugging it, smiling, sparking controversy.
