(Adnkronos) – Yemeni Houthis have struck Saudi Arabia's largest oil refinery with a ballistic missile, following weeks of destabilizing attacks against the world's leading crude oil exporter, according to the latest news today, Tuesday, October 27. "Yemeni armed forces managed to hit the Ras Tanura refinery in the Eastern Province with a ballistic missile," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree wrote on X, adding that the attack caused "large-scale fires."
Explosions were heard in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
The AFP news agency reports. Saudi-owned al-Arabiya satellite TV reports that authorities have issued a "hostile air threat" alert as the escalation between the Houthis of neighboring Yemen and the Gulf monarchy continues.
The Saudi-led Arab military coalition announced via X that two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen's Houthis in the direction of Riyadh have been intercepted and destroyed.
An official from the Yemeni rebel group said that the Egyptian parliament's decision to authorize military support for Saudi Arabia to defend itself against Houthi attacks was tantamount to a declaration of war.
“Egypt and its parliament have declared their support for what is called the defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and, by doing so, they declare war on the Republic of Yemen,” Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Houthi political bureau, said in a Telegram message.
