(Adnkronos) – Officers from the Reggio Emilia State Police Flying Squad arrested a 22-year-old Egyptian man pursuant to an order to increase the precautionary measure issued yesterday by the Reggio Emilia Ordinary Court. The man, known to law enforcement, had already been arrested earlier this year for attempted robbery and was subject to a precautionary measure prohibiting him from residing in the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.
A few days ago, a cleaner at a well-known shopping center on Via Kennedy reported that, while she was in the restrooms, she was approached by a man who attempted a sexual advance on her. This was unsuccessful, thanks to the victim's quick reaction, who, by screaming and attracting attention, managed to scare the attacker away.
Following investigations by officers from the Reggio Emilia police headquarters, the man was identified as the 22-year-old Egyptian, who was reported at large for attempted sexual assault and for violating the precautionary measure he is under. Given the 22-year-old's conduct, the Reggio Emilia Court, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, ordered the existing precautionary measure to be increased to include arrest.
