(Adnkronos) – The AI Workshop in Milan “is crucial both for branding the region and for attracting investment from international industries that see here, in the Assolombarda district and throughout the Lombardy region, the skills that are lacking, for example, in Silicon Valley to translate the applications of artificial intelligence to the world of physics.

With these skills, we help companies improve efficiency, increase productivity, and innovate processes in line with this industrial revolution, thus overcoming other disadvantages, such as energy, and remaining competitive. On the other hand, we become makers, not just adopters, when it comes to automation and cutting-edge robotics applied to artificial intelligence, a field in which these skills are recognized worldwide.

These are the words of Alvise Biffi, president of Assolombarda, today in Milan at the meeting "AI and Physical AI, the impact on the real world," organized in collaboration with the Lombardy Region and Made.

The conference provided the backdrop for the signing of the resolution launching phase two of Milan's Innovation and Development Zone (ZIS) dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, known as the "AI Workshop."

Promoted by Assolombarda, the current leader, the ZIS will see the Made Competence Center take on the role of hub and managing entity. "We have the highest concentration of manufacturing industry in Europe in our quadrilateral area encompassing Milan, Monza and Brianza, Lodi, and Pavia," he continues, "double that of Bergamo and Brescia combined, which still represent a significant share of Lombardy's manufacturing. Added to this is another key skill, that of Innovation Services: all the major system integrators, the major technology operators, and especially the SMEs that support our traditional mechatronics companies, have their highest concentration here."

"This combination," he adds, "allows us to better address the transformation that merges physics with software and hardware, combining mechatronics with computer science to reach physics. AI is the combination of these two components and is the future of industry in the coming years," he concludes.
