(Adnkronos) – The Sanremo Giovani 2026 Music Commission, chaired by Stefano De Martino as artistic director and composed of Noemi, Fabio Volo, Carlo Pastore, Maestro Pino Perris, Ema Stokholma and Deputy Director of Prime Time Entertainment Claudio Fasulo, has concluded the first selection phase by identifying the 60 artists admitted to the live auditions which will take place, as per tradition, in Room A on Via Asiago.
The group of 60 selected artists is composed of 55 individuals (24 women and 31 men) and 5 groups. The South and Islands lead the way with 23 participants (20 individuals and 3 groups), while Central and Northern Italy are tied for second place with 17 individuals and 1 group. One artist from abroad, born in Malta, will audition. Among the most well-represented regions invited to audition is Lazio, with 12 applicants, including 10 individuals and 2 groups.
The data that emerged from the 2026 edition regarding female participation is particularly significant.
For the first time in the recent history of the competition, there has been substantial parity between male and female candidates, confirming the growing presence of young female artists in the national music scene. This is also reflected among those admitted to the auditions, with a slight predominance of men. At the end of the Sanremo Giovani and Area Sanremo auditions, 30 artists and groups will advance to the next stage of the selection process.
From these will emerge the six finalists, equally divided between the two paths, who will compete in the final scheduled for Friday, December 11, live on Rai1, at the Teatro del Casinò in Sanremo to win the only available spot in the Champions section of the next Sanremo Festival.
