Adnkronos (Adnkronos) –
Marracash breaks his silence on social media and takes a stand on the protests sweeping the country, from the clashes in Milan's streets to truckers in the South. In a lengthy Instagram post, the rapper from Barona asserts his distance from online activism, often calling it "too easy" and arguing that commitment is measured over time through hard work and ethics.
"Anyone who knows me knows well which side I'm on," he writes. "Social inequality is my battle; I've dedicated my life to rebellion. That's where I stand. A year ago, from a stage, I said that power only understands power, and that it's time for the people to show theirs.
Two years ago, I released an album that was already catastrophic in its title. I've been waiting for this reaction for a long time, and I think we're only at the beginning. Good things don't change things."
"I've never believed in protesting through social media; I've always found it too easy, cheap, and free," Marracash continues. "Of course, I respect anyone who tries to make their voice heard by any means, but for my part, I've always believed that commitment and authority are demonstrated and earned over time.
Through our choices, our ethics, our work, and obviously through what we say and do every day, not just in a story or a post at critical moments. This is simply not my favorite channel... Lyrics, music, concerts, interviews are. For me, social media is a press office."
