Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – "Don't show your children on social media." This is the appeal launched by Caterina Balivo on La volta buona. The host of the program – broadcast on Rai1 – wanted to send a message to all parents who choose to post photos and content of their children on social media.
The debate was reignited by a video message from Benedetta Rossi and her husband Marco Gentile. After adopting two girls, they decided not to show them on social media to protect their privacy: “We want to protect them, we don't judge those who do.
This is our decision, our common sense tells us that it is better not to do it", said the parents.
These words inspired Caterina Balivo to discuss the overexposure of minors online: "They're people, and I'm convinced they'll hold their parents accountable when they grow up. By posting about our children on social media, we're creating a digital identity card, which we're deciding for them.
"But who are we to do that? We brought them into the world, we must protect them and raise them. But why do we have to expose them and, above all, make them popular. What if they want to remain anonymous?" the hostess asked, then complimenting the food blogger on her decision. In conclusion, she reiterated the importance of this choice: "Giving a face is taking away the privacy of your child, who is a person.
