(Adnkronos) – A young homeless foreigner drowned in the swimming pool of a farmhouse in Castellina in Chianti, near Siena. The tragedy occurred during the night of Wednesday, September 9th, when – according to initial reconstructions – the young man entered the property intending to swim. The accident apparently occurred in the pool.
The people present in the building raised the alarm, triggering the rescue intervention.
Carabinieri from the Poggibonsi Company, firefighters, and paramedics arrived on the scene. However, there was nothing they could do for the young man: emergency responders pronounced him dead. The cause of death remains unclear.
The Carabinieri have begun investigations to reconstruct the precise circumstances of the incident. The autopsy, which will be performed on the body, will provide useful information to determine whether the young man drowned accidentally or whether he suffered a sudden illness before falling into the water.
