(Adnkronos) – "It didn't work between us because there were endless silences." Katia Ricciarelli, a guest on La volta buona today, Wednesday, September 8th, remembered Pippo Baudo, the beloved television host who passed away on August 16, 2025.
The relationship between Katia Ricciarelli and Pippo Baudo lasted 18 years: “We got married after two months of engagement.
"When you're a certain age, it makes no sense to wait months and years before getting married. We both thought ours was the last love of our lives," the soprano said in Caterina Balivo's living room.
“For me,” adds Ricciarelli, “Pippo was funny, he loved jokes, he loved to laugh and he was a great artist.
And no one can say anything about that." "We were really beautiful together, a beautiful couple," Ricciarelli recalls with a smile.
The two separated in 2004. On "La volta buona," the soprano explained the reasons that led to their breakup: "I traveled a lot, while he often stayed home for work. When I returned, it was hard to find the thread; there were endless silences, which is the worst thing.
I really like talking, sometimes we argue and then we make up,” he explained.
Ricciarelli admitted with irony: "I was very jealous, I threw many jealous tantrums. One time I grabbed my suitcase and left. I hoped he'd stop me, but he didn't, and I found myself alone outside like an idiot."
