The diagnostic test in question is "probably the tool that, before any other, led us into the era of precision medicine and oncology," says Criscitiello. "These tests analyze the activity of certain genes directly on tumor tissue, providing crucial information not only on the likelihood of recurrence, but also on the actual benefit of chemotherapy.
In this way it is possible to administer chemotherapy exclusively to women who would actually benefit from it, sparing it to those who would only experience side effects and a negative impact on the quality of daily life."
