Cyberattacks: UK Defense Minister: "Stock up on emergency supplies of water, food, and cash."

(Adnkronos) - British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting has recommended that citizens of the United Kingdom stock up on bottled water, canned goods, and emergency cash to survive for at least three days in the event of a hostile cyber attack.

(Adnkronos) – British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting has recommended that UK citizens stock up on bottled water, canned goods, and emergency cash to survive for at least three days in the event of a hostile cyber attack knocking out critical infrastructure.

This is reported by the Standard, the website of the Evening Standard, a former London free-press newspaper.

Streeting warned families to prepare for the possibility that everyday services, such as payment systems in supermarkets, could suddenly stop functioning due to global instability or the actions of hostile state actors.

The government's recommended supplies include: at least three days' worth of bottled water (about three liters per person); three days' worth of non-perishable foods, including canned goods and dried foods such as rice, pasta, lentils, dried fruit, and nuts; essential medical supplies and prescription medications; a battery-powered or hand-cranked FM radio; a fully charged power bank; a flashlight with spare batteries; cash (notes and coins), bank cards, and copies of passports and important documents; a paper list of essential telephone numbers; blankets, sleeping bags, warm clothing, and hand sanitizer; and wet wipes and other personal hygiene products.

Streeting's recommendations are reminiscent of those addressed to EU citizens in March 2025 by European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, who released a video advising them to prepare a "resilience bag" full of essential items.
