(Adnkronos) - "I couldn't take it anymore." Nearly two years after the murder, Rosa Capuano confessed to shooting and killing her father Francesco, a 79-year-old disabled pensioner. (Adnkronos) – "I couldn't take it anymore." Nearly two years after the murder, Rosa Capuano confessed to shooting and killing her father Francesco, a 79-year-old disabled pensioner. She made the confession this morning before the Assize Court of Mantua, which subsequently sentenced her to 25 years in prison for murder aggravated by premeditation and family ties.

However, frivolous motives have been ruled out. This was announced in a statement by the Carabinieri of the Mantua provincial command, who arrested the woman in March 2025, almost three months after the elderly man's death.

It was December 23, two days before Christmas, when the man was killed with several gunshots while he was in his car in the condominium garage in Suzzara in the Mantua area.

It was the daughter who raised the alarm, saying she'd forgotten something at home and had gone back up to retrieve it before going shopping with her father. She waited just a few minutes before returning to the garage to find the elderly man slumped in the unlocked car.

A version that did not convince the investigators who, after having investigated the crime in all its aspects, narrowed their search around the then 46-year-old.

The turning point came when the Carabinieri in Giugliano, the town in the Naples area where the Capuano family was from and where the woman had returned to live after her father's death, found a .22-caliber revolver in her vanity case with three spent shells of the same caliber as those used in the murder. Immediately arrested, the woman denied shooting her father. The surprising confession came a year and a half later at this morning's hearing.

The motive would be linked – as the investigators had hypothesized – to her desire to free herself from her father, to whom she felt 'subservient' and who she constantly looked after, as well as to the belief that she would become his universal heir.
