Oasis have chosen a Vespa and the alleys of Trastevere to confirm that Rome will be a stop on their 2027 tour. Italian fans are breathing another sigh of relief, although the dates and ticketing details will still have to wait. The English press and fan clubs have been claiming for days that Oasis will perform in Italy in 2027 with two concerts at Rome's Stadio Olimpico, on July 24th and 25th.
The dates appear in the provisional calendars that have been circulating in recent days. Now the video, featuring a Vespa riding two girls along a central Rome alley at dusk, provides further reassurance about the Roman stopover but doesn't put an end to the wait for details.
The first confirmation of the 2027 tour came directly from Noel Gallagher, who on September 2, while a guest on 'talkSport Drive', hinted that the band would return to live performances next year: “There's no football tournament next year, so we have to do something in the summer, right?!”.
Further confirmation came three days later, on September 5th, from Liam Gallagher, on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival, where the two rock brothers presented the documentary 'Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger', greeted by a huge crowd of fans. When asked by Adnkronos whether Rome would be on the 2027 tour schedule, the band's frontman replied, "Yes."
After Venice, to add appeal to the countdown, some allusive videos posted on social media by Oasis were added, which contain references to the cities involved.
The one about Rome is the seventh. The first, set in a fish and chips shop with the video for "Little By Little" playing in the background, brought to mind Glasgow, specifically Celtic Park. The second, football-themed, fueled rumors of a return to Manchester, to the Etihad Stadium. Then came the videos with hints about Monaco, Barcelona, and Amsterdam. Then yesterday, the sixth arrived, referring to Paris, where Oasis is rumored to be playing at the Stade de France on July 3rd and 4th. And the English tabloid interpreted the protagonist's annoyed attitude, as he bites into a plum in front of a fruit stand and then angrily throws it away and spits out the stone, as a clear reference to the fight that ended the band on August 28, 2009, which took place just outside the French capital. That night, just three dates before the conclusion of the 'Dig Out Your Soul' world tour, Noel Gallagher walked off the stage at the Rock en Seine festival just minutes before the concert began and announced his departure, effectively marking the end of the band. The band reunited in 2024, returning to the stage in 2025 with a triumphant tour, which is also chronicled in the documentary film presented at Venice.
According to reports in the English press, the provisional schedule includes: a series of dates in Glasgow between May 22nd and 29th; a long block of concerts in Manchester between June 4th and 27th; and finally the six nights at Knebworth between September 4th and 19th.
As for international dates, the tour would include several concerts in Europe. In France, Oasis is scheduled to play at the Stade de France on July 3 and 4; in Germany, at the Allianz Arena in Munich on July 10 and 11; and, in Italy, at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on July 24 and 25. Ireland would be involved with a series of concerts at Slane Castle between August 6 and 14. Other dates, with no dates yet revealed, are said to include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Las Vegas, and Boston.
