(Adnkronos) – Sean Michieli, the 25-year-old clam fisherman from Burano, has been declared dead. He was admitted to the Angelo hospital in Mestre after the dramatic boating accident that occurred in the Tessera canal in the Venice lagoon, while he was aboard his vessel with his wife, Gabriella Querino, 26.
There is still no news of the missing woman and the search continues.
As former Veneto Regional President Luca Zaia recalled on his Facebook page, "Sean and his wife Gabriella had married just three months ago and were expecting their first child. After a collision with a taxi, their small boat sank. Sean was recovered in critical condition, while Gabriella remains missing in the lagoon."
Then, she recalled the boy's father's words: "Please, don't let him suffer. Promise me he won't feel any pain."
