(Adnkronos) – Selma Blair appeared in Queens Criminal Court on Monday evening to answer two separate assault charges. What happened to the actress? The first charge concerns the alleged incident in which she repeatedly kicked a police officer in the head, while the second concerns an alleged assault on a nurse.

The alleged incidents led to Blair's arrest at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. According to reports, the authorities' intervention was prompted by an alleged outburst of anger on board a plane, during which two flight attendants were also injured. During the hearing, despite her lawyers' requests, the actress was ordered to keep her handcuffs on.

During the hearing, the 54-year-old actress's lawyer, Shawn Barnes, argued that his client was experiencing a "medical emergency." According to the lawyer, Blair had boarded the plane after spending several hours on set, fell during the flight, and hit her head. Furthermore, she had allegedly failed to take some prescribed medications.

Barnes explained to Judge Indira Kahn that the incident was not a deliberate assault, but rather a delicate medical situation. The lawyer also emphasized that the actress, who suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS), had missed several doses of a powerful medication used to control severe neurological symptoms. The defense also reiterated that Blair had suffered a head injury during the flight.

Selma Blair was released after posting bail. The actress will now appear in court in January 2027: if convicted, she faces two to seven years in prison.
