(Adnkronos) –
Two-time world time trial champion and Olympic gold medalist Filippo Ganna is poised to strengthen Team Lidl-Trek's ambitions in the Classics, Grand Tours, and time trials over the next three years. Lidl-Trek is pleased to announce the signing of Filippo Ganna, who will join the team starting in the 2027 season.
Among the most talented riders of his generation, Ganna is one of the best time trialists in the world and a fearsome opponent in the most important one-day races and Grand Tours.”
The thirty-year-old is a two-time world time trial champion and excels in time trials. His road race record includes eight stage wins at the Giro d'Italia, two at the Vuelta a España, and five at the Tirreno-Adriatico.
Gifted with immense power and versatility, the Italian has also played a key role in some of the greatest Classics: he has twice finished on the podium at Milan-Sanremo and in 2026 he won an edition of the Dwars door Vlaanderen, demonstrating his ability to transform his time trial prowess into success on all terrains.
Even away from the roads, Ganna's track record is equally impressive. He was part of the Italian team that won the Olympic gold medal in the team pursuit in Tokyo and has won numerous world titles in the discipline, as well as being the current holder of the UCI men's hour record.
“I can't wait for next season to begin with such an important team as Lidl-Trek. I'm extremely proud to be part of it and can't wait for the first training camp to start the season in the best possible way,” said Ganna. “After eight years with my current team, starting a new chapter is fantastic, and I feel very motivated for the season. I have big goals that I hope to achieve with Lidl-Trek, especially in the Classics: with the team we have, nothing is impossible. Of course, the Grand Tours remain an important goal, and I can't wait to support the team and put myself to the test.”
