A photo gallery of the most beautiful public restrooms. Oslo responded with irony to US President Donald Trump's remarks at a rally on Sunday, when he declared he had been denied the Nobel Peace Prize and therefore called Norway a "shithole of a country." While Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide promptly responded to the tycoon's remarks, reaffirming the independence of the committee that awards the prize, the country's tourism board went even further, publishing images of the country's most beautiful restrooms on its website, 'Visit Norway'.
“Norway has made public toilets great again!” the agency wrote, posting pictures of some of the country's most striking public toilets and adding: “These toilets are worth a visit, both when you really need them and when you don't.” So, after the
Trump's words, during a rally in Michigan – “frankly, Norway sucks.
"Norway has become a shithole of a country" – this was the surprising response from Visit Norway, which showcased the works of internationally renowned architects who, along 18 scenic routes, have transformed simple street latrines into veritable attractions. Several of these have won international architecture awards.
The Norwegian Tourist Board has created a series of designer public toilets (which you can see here), many of them architecturally stunning and all of them offering breathtaking views, overlooking fjords, beside rushing rivers and foaming waterfalls, and at dramatic vantage points.
Combining clean, minimalist lines with the rugged, evocative landscape of the fjord, the baths are famous for their large, tinted windows, which offer visitors a panoramic view while remaining invisible from the outside.
