(Adnkronos) – A gross annual return of 5% until the age of 18. This is the new postal savings bonds for minors, designed to help them build and plan for adulthood. A thought for the future that can come from parents, grandparents, relatives, and friends, starting with even a small sum. The bonds are issued by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, guaranteed by the Italian government, and distributed by Poste Italiane.
They can be purchased starting from a minimum amount of 50 euros and can be issued to children and young people up to 16 and a half years old. Upon turning 18, the accumulated "nest egg" can be used as a resource for studies, entering the world of work, or other personal projects. (VIDEO)
Postal savings have been a staple of Italian families for generations, representing a safe haven where Italians can profitably store their money.
Currently, there are over 6.8 million savings bonds for minors in circulation, with a total value exceeding €10,5 billion. Campania leads this special ranking, followed by Lombardy and Lazio. Lombardy is the region with the highest number of savings books for minors, which, divided into three age groups, also offer an opportunity to gradually learn how to manage their savings: up to 12 years old, with transactions managed by parents or guardians; from 12 to 14 years old, for the first steps towards independence; and from 14 to 18 years old, for more active management thanks to the app and digital channels.
The bonds have no subscription costs, enjoy a favorable tax regime, with a 12,50% interest withholding tax, and are exempt from inheritance tax. They can be purchased in paper form by a parent, a family member, or an acquaintance, provided they are of age, or in dematerialized form only in the case of a parent or guardian. Through bonds and savings books, postal savings continues to grow and support families and new generations, combining the security of a state guarantee on invested capital, financial education, and digital innovation.
