(Adnkronos) – Pierluigi's questions
Diaco's comments on Alberto Ravagnani's sex life, during the interview on BellaMa', sparked controversy and reactions even within RAI. The former priest, now a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, expressed his discomfort, asserting his right to privacy. This position, however, raises questions about the relationship between his public communication and the boundaries of his private life.
Since announcing his departure from the priesthood, Ravagnani has devoted ample space to the topic of sexuality, citing it among the reasons for his choice.
In an interview with Simonetta Sciandivasci of “La Stampa” on February 6, he said: “I renounced sexuality as if it were sinful, and this renunciation dehumanized me, because sexuality has been a part of our lives since the beginning, and within love experienced with body and soul, I believe we experience much of the joy of living that has to do with the divine.”
Around the same time, speaking to Repubblica, he addressed the topic of celibacy and sexual relations among the clergy. He did the same with Vanity Fair.
With her participation in Dancing with the Stars, this narrative gained further traction. Ravagnani also presented the show as an opportunity to rediscover her relationship with her body, after years in which her physicality had been sidelined (she posted a photo in her underwear on social media).
The topic of sexuality also came up with the jury, particularly after Guillermo Mariotto called him “asexual” for the way he moved on the dance floor.
Journalist Grazia Sambruna also highlighted this apparent contradiction, observing on X how Ravagnani continues to draw attention to his sexuality through social media. Sambruna cites, among other examples, the former cleric's Instagram broadcast channel, called "IL MIO LATO B" (with a clear double entendre), in which he shares selfies taken with filters that alter the appearance of the face. The journalist criticizes Diaco, but at the same time disputes the idea that the sexual dimension is a topic outside of Ravagnani's public communication.
This is the point that emerges from the story: the former priest personally contributed to making his emotional and sexual evolution a central element of his public narrative, through the book "The Choice," numerous interviews, and television appearances. A communicative choice that can fuel the public's curiosity and raise journalists' questions.
