Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – In recent years, "many companies are returning to work and produce in Italy and are reimagining their own path by confirming Italian quality in its supply chains." This is how Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, speaking today in Sabaudia at the institutional workshop 'The Politics of Action to Protect Children', commented on Plasmon's return to the national rankings, after 62 years of foreign ownership by Kraft Heinz, thanks to its recent acquisition by the Italian company NewPrinces.
"What concerns Plasmon is extraordinarily important," Lollobrigida continues, "because it supports our children in their physical development through nutrition and also guides them towards the quality that must accompany them to ensure longevity and lifelong well-being. I must say that Angelo Mastrogilia," president of NewPrinces and Plasmon, "is a truly talented entrepreneur, a true visionary, who has managed to establish himself worldwide without betraying the principles of a quality food culture that are intrinsic to his personal education.
"She comes from a family business connected to the dairy industry," the minister explains, "but she has succeeded in developing these principles in all areas of production, including today's specialized production for children, with Plasmon. She has also pioneered another crucial avenue: distribution, with over a thousand supermarkets. I imagine, through her commitment, that she will be a symbol of a distribution system that is attentive to the quality of the products it offers to citizens."
Food, and the Mediterranean diet in particular, “are clearly an Italian heritage.”
And in this context, "pediatricians are essential," Lollobrigida emphasizes. "Since it was understood that children require special care, that they aren't just little people, but rather beings who need answers, including nutritional advice and growth guidance, pediatricians have become exceptionally important figures for all families. This has become even more so in this era, when our children receive distorted messages and often lack a tradition that perpetuates a culture of positive eating, while the prevailing one," of junk food, "is transmitted through social media. The pediatrician is a point of reference, a reliable anchor from whom to seek advice on what is good for them and what is less so."
As a ministry, "we are working tirelessly," the minister assures, "to enhance the entire Italian agri-food supply chain, from the food production process, from the primary sector, to our farmers, our breeders, our fishermen, and our processors, all the way to distribution. We have invested unprecedented amounts in the history of the Italian Republic in supply chains, but we ask them to respond to these incentives with quality, offering it to citizens at an affordable price." To ensure adequate nutrition for children, Lollobrigida believes it is essential "to start with education. The 'Fruit and Milk in Schools' campaign will launch in a few days, allowing children to learn about and taste quality products, so they can benefit from them as children. Then, of course," she concludes, "we need to focus on promotion and seek to support those who, through their own businesses, generate income without sacrificing quality."
