Lucia Sisic, Miss Austria 2024, has died at just 22 years old. The exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed, but the young woman had been battling a congenital heart condition for years. Mission Austria, the organization that manages the Miss and Mister Austria pageants, announced the news in a message posted on social media.
“It is with great shock and deep sorrow that we learned of the passing of our Miss Austria 2024, Lucia Sisic,” it read.
In addition to being crowned "Miss Austria 2024," Sisic still retained her beauty title because the pageant was never held again. The young woman had publicly spoken about her heart condition.
Shortly after her birth, she underwent surgery, which significantly impacted her childhood: “It was simply different, but it also made me strong,” Sisic told an Austrian newspaper.
